Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos' Wedding Photos & Details
During the week leading up to June 27, 2025, Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sánchez quite literally rented the entirety of Venice, Italy, for their extravagant wedding. Look back on all of the jaw-dropping details here, from who attended to what raucous activities cameras didn't capture.
The Couple Changed Venues at the Last Minute
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez got married in Venice, Italy, and their choice of location made headlines leading up to the big day. The canal-lined city, which served as the backdrop for George and Amal Clooney's wedding in 2014, is known as a glamorous enclave for the rich and famous. But prior to their arrival, protestors took to the streets to voice frustrations that the Bezos wedding would bring too much fanfare to the already-crowded tourist destination. In response to the demonstrations, Mayor Luigi Brugnaro said, "It is an honor that he is coming to Venice."
While the pair originally intended to celebrate in Cannaregio, concerns over protester presence forced the couple to pivot and move their events to a more private part of the lagoon city, according to a report by Reuters. The ceremony ultimately took place at a still-secret venue on San Giorgio Maggiore island. Throughout the weekend, the newlyweds were also spotted partying at Harry's Bar (a historic hotspot that Ernest Hemingway once frequented) and Arsenale, a former medieval shipyard.
The Bride Wore Custom Dolce & Gabbana Inspired by Blue Origin
One of the biggest Bezos wedding details was, of course, the fashion. There was plenty of speculation about what the bride would wear, and during a November 2024 appearance on The Today Show, the author played coy when asked about her attire: "I'm thinking about the dress," she told hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. "I do have a Pinterest like every other bride."
Sánchez ultimately wore a custom form-fitting Dolce & Gabbana long sleeve lace design that featured a high neckline and buttons down the front. Although she originally had a different vision in mind, the gown was inspired by her infamous Blue Origin flight to space in April 2025. "It went from 'I want a simple, sexy modern dress' to 'I want something that evokes a moment,' and where I am right now. I am a different person than I was five years ago," she told Vogue. The inspiration for the dress loosely came from the bridal ensemble Sophia Loren wore in her 1958 film Houseboat. "I went into a lot of therapy and it's changed me in a bunch of ways. But it's really Jeff," she continued. "Jeff hasn't changed me. Jeff has revealed me. I feel safe. I feel seen. He lets me be me. Like I said about Sophia Loren being unapologetically free, he lets me be unapologetically free."
The rest of her wedding wardrobe was meticulously planned as well. For one welcome dinner, she donned a 2003 Alexander McQueen black column dress with one shoulder. At another, she opted for a Schiaparelli couture off-the-shoulder dress with hand-embroidered flowers and a dramatic corseted waist. She also wore two different bridal midi dresses—one styled with a head scarf, and one with a gauzy miniature veil. After the ceremony ended, she slipped into a Versace georgette dress for the pajama-themed after-party…which she paired with slippers from Amazon.
Also of note were the bride's wedding jewels. Over the course of the weekend, she was photographed wearing two massive diamond rings on both hands. (When Bezos popped the question in 2023, he presented his wife-to-be with a rare pink diamond engagement ring that some experts estimate could be worth $2.5 million. If true, that would make her sparkler one of the most expensive celebrity engagement rings of all time.) Her newest addition, an oval-shaped gem worn on her left hand, is predicted to be even more valuable: "The ring is approximately a 30- to 40-carat natural oval diamond set in a dainty platinum pavé setting with a double hidden halo, estimated to cost between $4 and $6 million," says Olivia Landau, fourth-generation GIA-certified gemologist and founder of The Clear Cut.
The Guest List Included Plenty of Famous Names
The Bezos wedding was indeed a star-studded affair, as the couple invited about 200 guests to join the festivities. A-listers like Sydney Sweeney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Brady, the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and Usher made the cut. Andrea Bocelli's son, Matteo Bocelli, reportedly provided live performances throughout the wedding day.
Respecting the couple's wishes for privacy, not much social media content was shared by attendees—but that didn't stop tabloids from reporting on their behavior. One of the biggest headlines from the weekend was the alleged "love triangle" between Sweeney, Brady and Orlando Bloom, who just days prior announced his split from longtime fiancée Katy Perry (who attended the Blue Origin flight alongside Sánchez).
The Wedding Budget Was Hotly Debated
How much did Jeff Bezos' wedding cost? Although he has a net worth of $246.1 billion, his marital budget was rather small in comparison. (All things considered, of course.) Forbes estimates that the Bezos wedding could have cost between $20 million and $25 million, while the mayor of Venice estimated the number was about $55 million. Although a large portion of that cost was dedicated to security, closing off the island, buying out multiple venues for the week-long itinerary and transporting guests in boats around the canals, Chuck Maniace, VP of Regulatory Analysis & Design at global tax company Sovos says the couple faced even more fees for hosting their destination wedding in the EU. "While state and local sales tax rates can range from 0% to as high as 10.25%, Value Added Tax (VAT) rates in the European Union average out at nearly 22%," he tells us of the couple's inflated budget. "The VAT costs for a wedding of this scale in Italy are undoubtedly substantial. Traditional wedding services and expenses such as venue rental, photography services, floral arrangements, live music and catering are all subject [to this fee]."
Regardless of what the final number was, it's a stark increase from the national average cost of a wedding right now, which our data indicates is $33,000. But while the Bezos wedding certainly wasn't cheap by any means, the groom did use some of his fortune to give back. Per Forbes, Bezos donated nearly $3.6 million to three organizations in Venice: Corila, an agency that facilitates preservation of the lagoon; UNESCO's Venice office; and Venice International University.
All About Lauren Sánchez's Bachelorette Party
About a month before her wedding day, Lauren Sánchez celebrated with a bachelorette party in Paris, France. The philanthropist was joined by a few famous friends for the prewedding party, including Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and Katy Perry, who accompanied Sánchez on the headline-making Blue Origin flight to space in April. Sánchez wore a custom Galia Lahav white mini dress with a black satin cowl neckline for the soirée, designed by Sharon Sever.
Recapping the event on Instagram, Sánchez wrote, "Forever starts with friendship, surrounded by the women who've lifted me up, illuminated my path in dark times, and shaped my heart along the way. 🤍"
